Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), MBCT, LifeForce Yoga ®, mindfulness-based counseling, retreats, and trainings Baltimore, MD
Trish Magyari, MS, CGC, MS, LGPC, RYT-200

"I'm thrilled that you've found yourself to this listing of mindfulness resources. May they serve to bring you peace, ease, wisdom and compassion."
MBSR is simply the best method I know for empowering you to develop a regular mindfulness meditation practice that is right for you (choosing from one of the 10+ mindfulness practices taught in the course) AS WELL AS learning to apply the principals of mindfulness to the challenges--both inner and outer--present in your everyday life. Imagine doing all of this in a way that feels friendly and safe to your inner world, where awareness is cultivated along with compassion towards yourself--exactly as you are right now. Most participants find they not only are more present and confident in their lives after my MBSR class but they also know and like themselves better, too! Inner peace, calm, contentment, wisdom and friendliness to yourself and others are very common outcomes of the course, even when life circumstances don't change one bit--though they often do change for my participants, since they see options more clearly and have the courage to make needed changes."
Trish Magyari, MS, CGC, MS, LGPC has 34 years of meditation experience, has taught the MBSR course more than 50 times, and is trained in MBSR, MBCT and mindfulness-based psychotherapy. She has a Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling (1981) and a second Master’s in Clinical Community Counseling at JHU (2009). Trained in MBSR in 1987, she completed the UMASS MBSR Teacher Development Intensive, their highest level of training, in 2000; since then she has facilitated MBSR groups in 6 clinical trials at NIH, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine and has been leading professional trainings for mindfulness professionals, alone and in conjunction with Diane Reibel, PhD, since 2004. Trish teaches counseling courses as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at the JHU Bloomberg School Of Public Health.
She is a practicing Quaker as well as a teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW). Trish delights in helping others to increase their sense of wholeness and well-being in the world, and to find peace and contentment in the midst of life’s difficult challenges.
Her teaching is clear, compassionate and inclusive.

About MBSR/MBCT groups:
More and more scientific studies are implicating "stress" as a causative factor in medical conditions. . . everything from diabetes to cancer to MS to chronic back pain. The intermediary is inflammation, caused by over-reactive stress hormones. While diet and exercise play a role in decreasing inflammation, so does calming the nervous system directly through mindfulness practice; often within seconds our body begins to activate different genes which bring our system into balance.
More than simply "stress reduction" MBSR gives you the skills to thrive in all of life's circumstances, including the very challenging ones. Develop a daily meditation practice and bring mindfulness into all of your daily activiites.
Click on application link below to register. Go to "registration" page to pay by credit card or send email to Trish to pay by check.
$525 includes all classes, materials (CD, workbook, text) and retreat. $450 for students, seniors and family/friends (and JH affiliates for the JHSON course). Inquire for other discounts if you are on a fixed income or have taken the MBSR class once before.
I offer weekly practice drop-in mindfulness practice classes for MBSR grads and others (see below) on a donation-only basis.
